The Donna Louise Trust?Anyone who live in and around Stoke-On-Trent will know about Donna Louise Trust. It is one of the most dynamic and dedicated charities I've ever had the pleasure of being involved with. They dedicate their lives to caring for children who's lives have been effected or shortened by illness. They don't just focus on the children but provide respite care and entertainment for the whole family.
They rely charity and contributions in order to remain functional. It takes over £3million of funds just to keep the facility running... so, come on, dig deep, donate and share whenever possible! thanks SB |
Who are they?
The Donna Louise Children's Hospice Trust was registered as a charity in 1999. It was set up to respond to the need for a children's hospice service for Staffordshire and Cheshire.
The Charity takes its name from a young local girl, Donna Louise Hackney, who sadly died from a life threatening condition at the age of 16.
As the fundraising for a purpose built hospice continued, a community nursing team was established in 2002 to provide care for children and their families in their own homes.
By August 2003, the Hospice building was finished and fully-equipped.
The Hospice opened its doors to families on August 4th 2003
